About me
After finishing school in Canada I moved back to my hometown of bangkok in 1997. Back in those days there wasn’t much underground electronic dance music going on in bangkok. Apart from one or two clubs that played commercial house music, Bangkok was a musical wasteland. As a youth my goal was to finish school, come back to Thailand and spread the underground vibes through out the country. Doing this alone would prove to be very difficult. I was lucky enough to have met DJ Wen and Abu. All three of us shared the same love for underground music. We linked up and formed Homebass Communications in 1999. Our goal at that time was to push left feild electronic dance music like dnb, breaks and underground hip hop. We organized numerous dnb nights in Bangkok city. Djs such as Aphrodite, Mickey finn, L Double, DJ SS, John B, Dred Bass, Kiat, Lenzman and Ez Rollers were all guests at our events. We were also lucky enough to have been invited by Channel V ( now Fat radio ) to host our saturday night program which we named The Homebass Show. The program went on to be Thailands longest running electronic music program, lasting from 2000 to 2005. Unfortunately due to the radio station changing its music format the show was taken off the airwaves.
Since then Wen went on to pursue his career as an architect and Abu moved back to his native Japan and is now in charge of his family business. I’m still very happy to say that I am working to spread the underground vibes to this very day. I have focused my time and energy to organizing nights that feature talent DJ from all around Asia. The first series of events that showcased Asian talent were the Asia Bass nights at the now defunct Club Astra. The night also saw us compiling the first ever Asian dnb compilation also called Asia bass. The cd was released and distributed in Thailand on our very own label. As of recently I have also fallen in love with Dubstep and I am now organizing a dubstep night called Dubway. This night takes place once a month at Club Culture and, although the event is dubstep themed we play everything from techno, breaks, house and dnb. Last but not least I have been invited to host two internet radio shows Dub be good to you on GTR online and The homebass communication on Ubradio. I am very excited about those projects and I hope they do well.
Thanks very much for checking out my blog, I hope you enjoy reading it and if anything please feel free to leave a comment or contact me personally at homebasscommu@gmail.com

Hi Dragon,
I am writing from Yangon – Myanmar, I can’t find your email address, sorry to use your blog.
Are you available for water festival? my friend, stage organizer looks for a DJ for playing here (13 to 15th April, 3h/day roughly). I think you are the right guy for that. You know, Yangon becomes the biggest dancefloor in the world at that time, it’s great!

Now then,
Writing an article on Bkk club scene and was after some of your knowledgable input.
If you could answer any of the questions below that would be quality.
Why is partying in Bangkok better than other cities across the globe?
What is the best venue to play in Bangkok, and why?
How has the Bangkok dance music scene changed in last 10 years?
Which Thai artists/bands should we be listening to in 2010?
What are your current top five tracks?
answers by email cheers
Take care

ashutosh
October 11, 2010 at 6:40 am
hi, my course is more basic mixing and some basic scratching. Everyone who joins the class learns the same thing. This is because most people who join the class have absolutely no experience with djing. I can’t shorten the course sorry.
cheers

Hi Dragon
How to contact you through email?
December 13, 2010 at 12:44 am
Hey I’m hopefully going to apply to the school for sound engineering diploma in march but i need something to keep myself busy for a little while. I was wondering, does it matter if i sign up for the DJing class now for the January session? I Know it’s not the two month notice required but i’m comin back to BKK in a few days and i want to stay there for a long time so i just need something to keep me busy for the first few months before the Sound Engineering class. I’m already a DJ but i wouldn’t say I’m all that great i think this class would be a good confidence builder. Anyways yea just let me know if i can sign up late or not, and on the other side of things we should meet up sometime if your still DJing around at places. I DJ-ed at 808 for a bit so yea.
alright man hit me back,
BCA
December 17, 2010 at 6:58 am
If you have played in clubs then I assume you already know your basics. I only think you should join the DJ class if you have no prior knowledge on turntable/cdj basics, beat mixing and selecting. Other wise might just be a good idea to buy your own gear and spend all that extra time practicing at home.
