DJ Drunk Monk and MC Cha Cha at Dubway April 30

Hey everyone hope y’all been good since reading my last post. Well I’m glad to announce that April 30 will be the date for our next DUBWAY party. Its still going to be held at the same location but, once again bad luck has reared its ugly head! I’m not talking about moving the night to a different club or anything being canceled, its just that the owners suddenly decided to change the club name from Box club to oh god …….Sanfrandisco………………… yeah yeah I know, I guess because of the current economic crisis the club owners are a trying to make some money and are going to try to cash in on having the only gay club in Royal city avenue. But you don’t worry though as it’ll still have independent promoters organizing there own  nights on the weekends but,  on the off days  days I guess it’ll be tooty fruity as ever!

Ok well back in 09 I got the chance to play at one of the most amazing clubs ever, The Shelter in Shanghai. Everybody from Goldie, Pinch, Goth Trad, DJ Baku, MC Rumi, DJ Zinc and of course yours truly hehe has graced the decks in the converted world war II bunker. As a gesture of good will I have invited the owner (who is also a dj) to come and drop some mad dubstep wobble flavor’s in Bangkok.  Headlining are DJ Drunk Monk and MC Cha Cha. Besides running one of the dopest night clubs in Shanghai the duo also promote the biggest reggae events in the city called Uprooted Sunshine. On the artistic tip Cha Cha has recorded tracks for Hyperdub’s experimental artist The Space ape, and just recently she has recorded  with Reggae legend Clive Chin. Its really going to be an honor for me to have Drunk Monk and Cha Cha rock Dubways Dancefloor on April 30 as this will be a great warm up for the Hua hin reggae festival the next night on May 1.

Lastly Dubway T shirts are now available as pre order. So if you liked the design from last months or this months flyer you can contact me via email homebasscommu@gmail.com and let me know what design you would like and your size. Shirts are 300 baht each and you can pick them up at the part on April 30.

Dubway presents DJ Greg G of 7even Recordings (France)

Coming up this saturday march 20 2010 is the date for our 3rd DUBWAY session this year. Our guest for this night is Greg G,  the head honcho of one of the most cutting edge dubstep labels around 7even recordings (France). To date the label has released tracks from artists such as Likhan, Helixir and now dropping his phenomenal  debut album the mighty F. Don’t expect to hear wobbly b-lines all night because Greg G will be rinsing everything from dub reggae, jungle and dub techno!! Unfortunately for the second time round in 2010 DUBWAY has had to move to another club. This time we’ve moved the event to the newly opened BOX club in RCA block C. This small and cozy little space is located right next to 808. So its not very hard to find at all. Also we’ve been featuring the artwork of Thai graphic artist T.Puchpen on our flyer’s since last year, now this time you ‘ll be able to witness first hand and T.Puchpen and Homebass Graffiti write Pakorn throw down there artwork on canvas live! The event is FREE before 11pm, 300 baht after. I hope y’all can all come and enjoy the vibes with us on this night.

All out dubstep crew Live at Dubway

I’m very happy to announce that DJ Systematic and DJ IRK from the All out Dubstep crew will be our guests at the second DUBWAY session at club 808. The two are responsible for holding down the biggest dubstep events in Sweden. They have also branched out and are now releasing tracks under there own label called ALL OUT DUBSTEP, the first two releases saw L Wiz throwing down some of his best material to date. This is going to be a sick night and once again we ‘re going get a glimpse of what kind of riddim’s peeps are brocking out to over in Scandinavia. I also want to mention that this event is free before 11pm so if your feeling like the economic crisis has put a strain on your cash flow then please come down early.

Kao san electronic music festival 2010

Ok well I didn’t get to throw down at Culture one Festival this year, but as it has turned the organizers at Kao san electronic music fest want me to throw down in there dnb/dubstep room. I am so totally stoked by all this! I have a bag full of dub plates and  I ‘m hoping that peeps will enjoy what  I play on  that night. If your thinking about heading down to KEMF don’t expect it to be a big budget rave like Culture One. Instead expect the venue to be dark and grimey.. just the venue and location itself is very underground, with  an outside area for the main stage and two other back rooms, I ‘ve even heard that the dnb and dubstep room doesn’t even have air conditioning – now how grimey is that!! Another great thing about this rave is that the line up consists of all local DJs.. well theres one guy from Norway but apart from that guy every one else is a Bangkok native.  There will be three rooms of music. The main room will be house, second room trance and third room dubstep and dnb. This party is going down on February 20 and tickets are only 200 baht at the door includes one drink.

We moved

Yeah that’s right folks the first Dubway session in 2010 will be at club 808. I guess you can think of it like kids moving out of there parents house. For a long time  Club Culture and the owners were like parents to us. They helped us out with many things and in return we worked hard for them. Although staying at your parent’s crib can be stressfull, it mostly is very convienent and most of all SAFE. Now we’re out on our own and gonna have to try harder to make things work…like when we were in college and trying to survive off packets of Mama instant noodles. So expect the Dubway crew to book more underground DJ’s this year, big name DJ’s cost a shit load and in todays economy a shit load of money is a thing that is hard to come by and, just cuz the DJ’s we book are from the underground don’t even think for a second that they are wack. An excellent example of up and coming dope as hell producer is DJ Instinct. This young and talented producer/DJ wil be our very first guest at Dubway for 2010. Insinct’s been reppen’ Guernsey to the fullest having been featured on Get Darker Tv, he’s also releasing his tune’s on DJ Cyrus’ new label called Origin Audio. I ‘ve checked Intinct’s trax on his mypace and their dope! I’m glad I can be the first promoter in asia to have booked him. I’m even more excited about hearing his beats pumped out of 808′s huge sound system. Also on the line up is DJ Mash. This rudeboy DJ used to live in Thailand for many years so he’s earned himself a bit of a following amongst the locals. Unfortunately since last year he’s had to move back to England. We were lucky enough to have Dubway on the date he decided to visit his old friends in Bangkok, so its going to be extra exciting that we now have him as part of the nights line up. On top of that there’s me, Jo Stitch and MC Sinamon throwing down on this night as well!! Yes so there it is our first event for 2010, small underground line up but quality DJ’s never the less! Learning to survive off meager rations has never been so much fun!! Can’t wait til the very first beat drop’s at 808 on January 23. Hope y’all can make it!

The full line up is

DJ Instint(origin audio)

DJ Mash( formula devotion)

Dragon

Jo stitch

Mc sinamon

tickets are 300 bath includes one drink

Urban blends at Lo shu

I started my dj career as a hip hop dj. The last time I held down a hip hop residency was at Club Speed in silom soi 4 but, that was way back in ’97 and hip hop has changed much since then. Although I don’t play much hip hop nowadays I still collect hip hop records. In fact I’ve collected quite a bit over the years and now I wish I had more chances to play them out. Well I guess my wish came true because my friend DJ GORO is organizing a night at LO Shu on sukumvit soi 23. The event is called Urban BLendy and will feature me and GORO on the decks playing everything from hip hop, funk, soul, deep house. If your unfamiliar with DJ GORO he has been in the Bangkok club scene for quite some time. His events Sound Donut at Cafe Democ and Earth Beat at QBar are a favorite and is always jammed packed with groovy Japanese expats. In all this  event is free so please come and join us if you are in the area.

2000F live in Bangkok

Dubway flyer

This months Dubway session will see one of my favorite dubstep producers 2000F as our guest selectah for the night. 2000F also records under the alias of Obeah. There are two Obeah tracks that I really love .. Sound for Ohoi and Kiss. So I’m quite excited to see 2000F play some of the freshest dubstep cuts november 21. Considered as Denmark’s dubstep ambassador, 2000F has numerous released tracks on Denmark’s very own Kraken recordings label. Apart from producing some dubstep, 2000F also runs a recording studio, promotes and organizes some of the biggest dubstep raves in Denmark and also teaches music at a university! The night will also feature our very own DJ Paulie dropping his first ever dubstep set at Dubway. Line up also includes Jo Stitch, Maz, and our host for the night MC Sinamon.  Entry will be free before 11pm but after that it will be 300 baht to get in. Hope to see y’all there!

The Shelter

Subculture at The Shelter ShanghaiJust recently I was invited by DJ Gaz  from  the Shelter club in Shanghai to be a guest at his monthly event called  Sub Culture. If you haven’t heard of the legendary club and its location you would be in for a suprise because the venue was originally an old World War II bomb shelter. Since those early days the decor of the club  hasn’t changed much as it still has the same reinforced concrete walls tunnel like corridors. The feel and vibe of the place is so Grimey and raw, being there reminded me of my early rave  days of Deeper club in silom soi 4. I was very excited and honored to have been invited to play there even though it was my doctors orders to not do any drinking or smoking for well… the rest of my life! But even still I had to go on with the show. and yes I did drink bucket loads of Heiniken but I really feel guilty bout that hehe. The turnout for that night wasn’t as big as the promoters had wanted but, the crowd that did show were well up for it. Apart from having me as a guest the club has hosted nights with DJ’s such as  Zinc, Pinch, Dam Funk, Goth Trad and DJ Kentaro. I recommend that anyone who is an electronic music fan visit the Shelter on there next stop to Shanghai.

Big up’s to Gaz and all the Shelter family you guys are the best !!!
